On January 16th, our Vice President of Healthcare Policy, Tara Larson, teamed up with the North Carolina Senior Living Association (NCSLA) to offer Medicaid Managed Care training to providers throughout the state.

The presentation was entitled “Reading the Crystal Ball for Medicaid Transformation in North Carolina” and focused on preparing Senior Living providers for the state’s transition to Medicaid Managed Care. The MMC model moves away from Medicaid’s current Fee for Service model and establishes payment based on value and individuals. Although there is presently a delay in the State budget, Larson reassured providers that the Medicaid Transformation wasn’t a matter of if it would be enacted, but a matter of when.

The training succeeded in putting the providers’ minds at ease. The presentation explained the importance of the provider playbook and informed the attendees on how to prepare for the transition. Larson ensured providers understood subjects such as auto-enrollment, contracting with Health Plans, and Standard vs Tailored plans. The knowledge acquired at this training will ready North Carolina providers for the transition to come.
